• EMERGENCY GUARDIANSHIP
Emergency guardianship cases may be filed ONLY if a disability proceeding is pending. There must be a serious physical danger to one’s health or damage to or misuse of property if immediate action is not taken.
- The filing fee for a petition for emergency guardianship is $75.50.
- This process begins at the Kenton County Attorney’s Office located at 1840 Simon Kenton Way, Covington, Kentucky 41011. Their phone number is 859-491-0600.
- A hearing will be scheduled within 7 days.

Information requested to complete emergency guardianship petition:
- Respondents (person in need of guardianship) name and complete address, social security number, date of birth, and a statement from their licensed physician.
Confidentiality – All court records in disability proceedings are confidential except for the order of appointment.
- Any person seeking to obtain confidential information contained in the court files or records may file a written motion stating why the information is needed. The Circuit Clerk will maintain a log of individuals and entities granted access to the files or records by court order.
